JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Mainframe Engineer to join our team.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, test, and support real-time IMS/DC applications using COBOL with a focus on performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Maintain and optimize large-scale IMS DB v14.1 environments (17,000+ segments).
- Work with DB2 v12, managing large data volumes across 800+ tables.
- Develop and maintain programs using Assembler, Rexx/Clist, DYL280, and C in a mainframe environment.
- Handle data processing using VSAM, GDGs, and Flat files.
- Utilize mainframe tools and utilities from IBM, CA, and AG (e.g., File-AID, Abend-AID, Endevor).
- Integrate system interfaces including VTAM, MQ Series, FTP/SFTP/FTPS, and email-based communication systems.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional agile teams using tools like JIRA.
- Engage with business and technical stakeholders, including client-facing interactions.
- Apply structured development practices and adhere to SDLC and change control standards.
- Leverage experience in the insurance industry (policy, claims, billing) to align technical solutions with business needs.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar mainframe engineering role, with a strong focus on IMS/DC transaction processing and enterprise-scale applications.
- Very high proficiency in COBOL for IMS/DC online transaction processing.
- Proven expertise in IMS DB and DB2.
- Solid experience in mainframe programming languages and utilities.
- Familiarity with insurance applications and business processes.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
