We are looking for an experienced data scientist, ML Engineer or AI architect to help manage and grow the AI side of our Data+AI services business.  You must be comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams focused on developing, implement and support high performance business solutions using natural language processing, predictive analytics, machine learning, and other expert system / augmented intelligence techniques.

The candidate primarily will work to provide direction and implementation services to our clients, but also occasionally on internal AI initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic (preferably post-graduate math / comp-sci / engineering) background. They should also have an interest in practical business issues, and experience working with multi-disciplinary technical teams including data scientists, business analysts, data engineers and full-stack developers, and significant hands-on experience with :

·       Query multiple databases and prepare datasets following business requirements 

·       Prepare training / testing data sets, train and evaluate models, and recommend changes to improve metrics of interest 

·       Review and assess model performance, presenting the results in a non-technical way  

·       Identify areas of improvement in sampling, feature engineering and model development 

·       Collaborate with software and data engineers in deploying new models to production 

·       Build trust and deliver exceeding client’s expectation  

Strong programming experience in Python (including a robust knowledge of the Python ecosystem libraries - Pandas, Numpy, Scikit Learn, Keras, TensorFlow/PyTorch, NLTK, Gensim, Spacy) is a must, as is experience with SQL, relational and non-relational database systems, and code versioning tools (e.g. GitHub).  The candidate will also participate in conferences, write industry or academic publications, and demonstrate thought leadership within the data science community.

Working with the other data leaders, you would take responsibility for managing and mentoring data scientists, ML engineers and AI developers.  You would help decide who should work on available projects, what training / support they’ll need (if any) and how to set expectations for that work.  You will also be required to support proposal development for DS/ML/NLP/AI related projects.  Through this comprehensive set of responsibilities, and working with the other data team leaders, you will increase Levio’s success in delivering AI projects and ability to win new projects in this area. 

  • Proficiency in both English and French is a bonus not mandatory, role will be in English.  This role will facilitate effective communication in our diverse work environment.

Responsibilities:

·       Participate as senior technical (data science / AI) advisor in client projects as a billable asset for up to 40 hours per week (when possible) as an AI /data architect or similar            role

·       Participate in pre-sales business development activities including writing proposals, developing price estimates, and delivering pitches for new work.

·       Direct or lead the strategy phase of client projects including discovery, evaluating and recommending technical solutions

·       Provide technical and program leadership, in conjunction with PMs and senior technical staff, with overall accountability for the success of client projects

·       Partner with project managers to successfully manage client relationships

·       Provide leadership, career direction and mentorship to 5-7 direct reports as a manager (GPS), some of whom will also be managers (which we call Lead GPS)

·       Participate in peer reviews of AI solution design, data architecture and related activities

·       Help team members progress toward their professional development goals through mentorship

·       Provide input and leadership on developing and evolving Levio’s data and AI go-to-market and business development plans, including presenting at conferences and                    publishing blogs etc.
